It always was a blast participating in the Home Bar Awards challenges. I am very happy that Chris aka Cocktail Chris brought them back! The first quest of 2025 is all about classic sours, but without any citrus!

The Drunken Dodo was the cocktail I initially planned on mixing with the Plantation Trinidad Rum. It was on my ‘to mix’ list as long as I created a variation of it, I called ‘The Season’. So without further ado here it is!
For this recipe, I started with a Gin & It variation. Yet, I added a bit of Italian red bitter to the recipe and this basically took the drink in another direction entirely. So, I just embraced the Negroni (Cardinale) spirit.
I made a drink with homemade pistachio orgeat a while back. When chatting with Torben about it, he suggested a Mai Tai variation with white overproof white rum and pistachio eau de vie.
I came up with this drink during Tropical Month 2023, but did not came around to write about it. Since this was a great combination of flavours, I thought I just post it this year. However, this also means I am not completely sure how I got to the specific recipe.
I guess it is a bit late to post watermelon cocktails. However, when I made the drink back in September there were still tropical temperatures out there. So, this might just serve as a reminder of the next, overly hot summer to come!
I do love Amaros, so I am very happy to try out a new Fernet. On top of that, I had an atypical vermouth to sample as well. So, I came up with a weird drink featuring both – and Träkal…
I heavily anticipated the arrival of the Ferrand Dry Curacao Yuzu. The regular one already is my go-to orange curacao, especially in Mai Tais. Obviously, I had to try the new one in a twist on that classic cocktail!
I got a long backlog of drinks I did not get around to write about. However, the list of cocktail ideas is even longer. Well, this time I am presenting an absolutely delicious cocktail to you. However, I do not really recall what the motivation behind it was.
When the folks from Gin de Cologne asked me if I wanted to try their new Mediterranean Gin, I gladly said yes. This version of their classic gin seemed perfect for refreshing summer drinks. Well, as it turns out, it was – although the creation is not for the faint hearted!
