The Next Level of Homemade Drinks
I came up with this drink during Tropical Month 2023, but did not came around to write about it. Since this was a great combination of flavours, I thought I just post it this year. However, this also means I am not completely sure how I got to the specific recipe.
I thought long and hard on what to mix with Buckwheat whisky. First, I came up with a Blood & Sand variation. However, I also consulted my Flavor Bible and additionally found a great recipe to base my creation on.
The folks from Kirsch Whisky were so kind to send me the current Distiller’s Edition of the Brewdog Lone Wolf Gin. On top of that, I also received a sample of Vietnamese rhum. Since, the gin has exotic fruits as extra botanicals, I thought to combine them both in a Sour suitable for late summer!
I already reviewed some Chairman’s Reserve Rums on the blog. Therefore, I was quite happy to get the chance to review the vintage version, too. Additionally, the rum seemed perfect for a banana laced Old-Fashioned variation.
Traditionally, eau de vies are distilled from local fruits and vegetables. However, some distillers experiment with more exotic ingredients.
