I am always late to the party. In this case, I missed Negroni week with my second post which I especially prepared for this occasion. I made a Negroni variation I had in mind for a long time now. Well, better late than never!
I thought long and hard on what to mix with Buckwheat whisky. First, I came up with a Blood & Sand variation. However, I also consulted my Flavor Bible and additionally found a great recipe to base my creation on.
Some time ago, I ran out of my regular bottle of Mirabelle eau de vie. So, similar to the recent apricot eau de vie tasting, I did a blind tasting of eight Mirabelle eau de vies. Join in to read about the quite different results.
In 2020 I did a big apricot eau de vie bling tasting. So, it felt like the time was right for an update. This time I tried twelve different eau de vies. However, it was not a blind tasting this time, but nevertheless the results were interesting.
To be honest, I am not a big fan of spiced or flavoured rum. Still, I am reviewing a bottle for you and came up with a great cocktail using it. On top of that, this honey and orange flavoured rum based spirit has quite the background story.
Single Malt from Germany already is quite normal, but rye and other US style whiskeys are a bit of a novelty. I already featured the Stork Club rye whiskey here on the blog. However, Florian Faude is new to the game. So, I thought I put both distilleries head to head!
