I know mid-September might be a bit late for a rosé wine tasting. However, this category has so much more to offer than just a simple summer sipper on a terrace. In fact, the tasting focused on ‘serious’ rosés. Yet, we also had some unusual ones.
For this wine regular’s table, I chose different orange wines. To be fair, there only eight were orange wines and the first one was a Pet Nat. Yet, it was very interesting to see the different effects skin contact can have on white wines.
Sauvignon Blanc is the favourite grape variety of my mother. So, we did a small tasting to explore the different aspects. It took me more than a month to find the time to write about the latest tasting by our wine regular’s table. We chose the topic of German sparkling wines and of course I mixed in a little surprise.
Just before the Christmas season starts, is the ideal time to discover some new champagne. Paired with the fact that our last champagne tasting was two years ago, I gathered some friends and we tried nine different bottles.
In this post, I am wrapping up the last two spirits from the last care package from Matthias Sievert and Spiritus Rex. Matthias distils both spirits from rare wild fruits. Which turned out to be the highlight of this years spirits.
In 2020 I did a big apricot eau de vie bling tasting. So, it felt like the time was right for an update. This time I tried twelve different eau de vies. However, it was not a blind tasting this time, but nevertheless the results were interesting.
As per usual, I am pretty late to review some samples from Which.de. However, they also publish a new Scottish Single Malt book out. So, I took this as an excuse to write about the recent whiskies and other bottlings.
Single Malt from Germany already is quite normal, but rye and other US style whiskeys are a bit of a novelty. I already featured the Stork Club rye whiskey here on the blog. However, Florian Faude is new to the game. So, I thought I put both distilleries head to head!
