One More Cup – Bergbrand Gipfelkreuz

Next up in the coffee related series here on the blog, we are taking a closer look at another Italian style espresso blend. Similar to last time, there is a healthy dose of robusta in it, combining coffee from Brazil and India.

Bergbrand uses a blend of 65 % arabica and 35 % robusta coffee beans for their Gipfelkreuz blend. On top of that the coffee from Brazil comes from two farms. On the one hand, one part of coffee comes from the Fazenda da Lagoa, in Minas Gerais, one of the oldest farms in Brazil. The variety is Obatã and processed Natural. On the other one, the other part of the Yellow Catuaí variety is pulped natural and comes from Fazenda Dona Nenem, Minas Gerais. Last but not least, the parchment robusta coffee beans come from Baba Budan, Chikmagalur, India.

Dark chocolate notes

The Bergbrand tastes like a classic Italian blend. You can find dark chocolate notes, dark fruits, roasted flavours. Additionally, there are some cinnamon and cacao bean flavours. All in all, you can taste a bit of acidity in the taste, but they are well balanced and lead into a long aftertaste with a combination of dark fruits and chocolate.
