The Pink Phantom – Quarantini Rosé

Well, flavoured and coloured gins apparently are a thing now. I guess it is no wonder then, that Quarantini Gin also have their own version now. While I cannot say that I am a big fan of Pink Gins, I thought I still give this one a try. All in all, it really turned out quite pink.

So this already is the sixth iteration of Quarantini Gin. In contrast to their regular bottling, uses raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, hibiscus and pink grapefruit as flavourings. In the end, Quarantini bottles their rosé coloured gin at 42 % ABV.

A lot of berry flavourings

The Quarantini Rosé Gin starts off with a note of hibiscus and fruit tea notes. Next you get hit by a intense berry flavour which reminds me a bit of chewing gum. Apart from that there are hot spices and noticeable menthol notes. All in all, the regular Quarantini Gins. had a more unique selling point.

A play on the “perfect serve”

Quarantini suggest pairing their Rosé Gin with Schweppes Wild Berry lemonade. Unfortunately, I really do not like this berry flavoured lemonade. Therefore, I thought I alter the perfect serve recipe a bit. And by a bit I mean change everything except the gin… So, instead of Schweppes Wild Berry, I used the Le Tribute Olive Lemonade and floated a bit of Cynar on the drink. Apart from that, I thought a bit of Maritivo Aperitivo liqueur and rosé vermouth also could not hurt. I know this takes the drink more in the direction of a Pink Negroni.

The Pink Phantom:

3 cl Quarantini Rosé Gin
2,25 cl Maritivo Aperitivo
3 cl Rosé Vermouth
Top off with Le Tribute Olive Lemonade
Float 0,75 cl Cynar
Built – chilled Gin & Tonic Copa – over ice cubes – top off – float;
Garnish: Dried edible Flowers;
Song: Gorillaz – The Pink Phantom;

The “Pink Phantom” starts with clear notes from the Rosé Gin. Apart from that, you can also taste a slight bitterness from the Maritivo and the Cynar. The rosé vermouth brings a bit of winey notes to the mix. However, the berry flavour really is prominent in the flavour. In the end, the olive lemonade adds some freshness and citrus notes.
