Agave Month ’25 – Autumn Version No. 1

The Autumn’s combination of tequila and sherry sounded too delicious not to try it. Especially, when there is also pear eau de vie involved. Yet, I made a slight error when remixing it.
There actually are two different version out there. The No. 1 uses reposado tequila and was published by Jeffrey Morgenthaler. The second version uses applejack in combination with apple bitters. I decided to go for the first version and did not regret it. Yet, I made the mistake of serving the drink straight-up instead over a large ice cube.
Tequila and sherry

2,25 cl Fernando de Castilla Antique Amontillado Sherry
0,75 cl Reisetbauer Williams Pear Eau de Vie
0,75 cl Maple Syrup Grade C
Stir – strain – chilled Double Old-Fashioned glass over large ice cube (straight-up);
Garnish: Orange Twist;
Song: Bombay Bicycle Club – Autumn;

Yes, the drink is supposed to be served over a large ice cube. Yet, I also enjoyed the straight-up version. If you use a high-quality pear eau de vie, the flavours just go so well together. The Reisetbauer really shines in this one! I also liked how the sherry shines through without overpowering the drink with its nutty flavours.
