Tropical Month ’25 – Mai Tai
Ever since I got my hands on the Satoshi Curaçao, I wanted to mix up a Mai Tai with it. So, tropical month came as a welcome excuse to try it out. I can already reveal this much: It was a very tasty cocktail.

It’s been a while since I tried different glasses for eau de vies. So, here is an update on which glass works for which fruit spirit. I tried eighteen different glasses with six different eau de vies. All in all, there were some surprises, but also some obvious discoveries.
There a lot of gins out there, but still you can find really good ones by coincidence. My good friend Torben from Trinklaune suggested that I try the Wilder Mind gin. Obviously, I had to comply and try the gin Paul Brusdeilins distils after building quite the resume with other gins.
On with Tropical Month 2023, the ‘Devil Like Me’ is a variation of another drink I created in 2017. The ‘Balthazar Impresario’ is a rare tropical cocktail that uses vermouth. On top of that, both drinks show my love for blood oranges.
There is one last tropical drink I did not manage to write about during Tropical Month. This cocktail inspired by the Hurricane and another drink I found on Instagram, uses a very rare eau de vie. While this was clearly intended to be enjoyed neat, it is also fun to use it together with other […]

The Cameron’s Kick is a cocktail I unfortunately disregarded so far. Somehow, I thought of it as a “dressed-up” Whiskey Sour. However, when I reviewed the Busker Irish Whiskey a few weeks back, I mixed up a variation of this classic cocktail. I was in for quite a surprise! Although I added a bit of […]
As I mentioned last year when I reviewed several blood orange eau de vies, it is a bit of a trend with European distillers to make one. So, a bit overdue Lantenhammer has weight in, but when they did, they made sure that they did it right. The new blood orange eau de vie is […]
It’s been a while since I wrote the last article in this series. However, sometimes there are bottles you just have to revisit from time to time. In this case, this applies to the gin as well as to the eau de vie. Both are excellent spirits which enrich each liquor cabinet. On top of […]
When it comes to coconut rum, I am very sceptical. A lot of the times those flavoured rums taste artificial and way too sweet. However, the Aluna Coconut set out to be different. The folks behind the rum wanted to create a not too sweet rum with natural coconut flavour. Since, it is the first […]
