I really did managed to come up with a non-alcoholic recipe without using caffein for a change. All in all, the different components all have an Arabic touch and just fell into place. It all started with sumac syrup.
Usually, I am not for the descriptive names. However, this time the drink is exactly what the name suggests – A Julep variation using calamansi as the main flavour. Apart from that, I combined a wheated bourbon with rye whiskey for the spirit base here.
Blanche Armagnac is a wonderful spirit to mix with! This is why I came up with a Missionary’s Downfall variation some time ago. An entry to the Home Bar Awards 2022 Finals added the finishing touches to the recipe.
On to the next drink in this little series on American Whiskey cocktails: This one features the Widow Jane Bourbon and I took inspiration from the classic Smash recipe. To be honest, I did not stray from the beaten path that far with this.
