Dry January – Spilt Milk
You often read that creating a good non-alcoholic cocktail is harder than creating one with booze. I totally agree, you have to make up for the lack of flavour and mouthfeel. For Dry January 2025, I rely heavily on caffeine.

There a lot of gins out there, but still you can find really good ones by coincidence. My good friend Torben from Trinklaune suggested that I try the Wilder Mind gin. Obviously, I had to comply and try the gin Paul Brusdeilins distils after building quite the resume with other gins.
A short break from Tropical Month 2023 for this month’s Home Bar Awards challenge and Soundtrack My Friend’s Drink Vol. 13. Just in time for Valentine’s Day the task was to draw inspiration from a love or heartbreak song. In this case, I chose the song ‘Wings of Love’ from the supergroup LIV.
Well, I was quite busy in the last few weeks and creating and writing about cocktails definitely came too short. With a baby on the way and quite the workload on my regular job something just had to be paused. Yet, I still managed to come up with quite the delicious no ABV cocktail.
Already, there are a lot of non-alcoholic gin alternatives out there. However, until now I did not really find a suitable replacement for the gin in a no-ABV Negroni. This Dry January, I am reviewing the non-alcoholic spirits from the company behind Heimat Gin. On top of that, there is also non-alcoholic “Campari” in this […]
My second no-ABV creation using tea is inspired by a gin drink called Adult Lemonade. However, instead of the juniper flavoured spirit I used a combination of herbal tea – inspired by Gin Sul – and the no-ABV spirit Seedlip. Add cucumber and a bit of acidity and you have got yourself a very refreshing […]
I know that there are other gins out there using wine as an ingredient. Moreover, there are also gins out there which cooperate with famous vineyards. Nevertheless, I was very excited to try the new Windspiel Gin. They are extending their line of cooperation and are now working with renown vineyard Van Volxem. So, in […]
I am a great fan of the distillates from Satoshi Spirits. Their blood orange flavoured gin and eau de vie are superb. So, of course I was curious when they launched a new strawberry eau de vie. However, berry eau de vies always are a double-edged sword. Yet, I came up with a delicious sour […]
There are more common cocktails out there and then there are drinks which are completely off the charts. In this case, the “Hispanola Buccaneer” is a crazy flavour combination which comes from the Berlin bar Beckett’s Kopf. It combines Clairin, sherry, two eau de vies and Verjus for a multiplex drinking experience.
Today is Cinco de Mayo and I was asked to create cocktails with tequila and Mezcal from Topanito. So, this is exactly what I did. My initial idea was a deconstructed Paloma cocktail which coincidentally also ended up crystal clear. On top of that, I am also presenting an umami laced Mezcal cocktail to you.
