Unbottled – Pascal Doquet Arpège
It has been a while since I reviewed my last bottle of champagne. In this case, I am presenting the Arpège Blanc the Blanc to you. This bottle comes from the pioneer of organic farming in the Champagne.

This was the first wine tasting of my regular’s table in 2026 with the topic natural wine. Well, there are no set rules on what constitutes a natural wine. For this tasting, I chose wines that had undergone minimal intervention in the cellar. Furthermore, all of the wines are hand-harvested, unfiltered and unfined, as these […]
Mars Whisky is produced by the Hombo family in two different distilleries. The first is located in Tsunuki, while the second is the Shinshu Distillery in Miyada. Mars Whisky also uses three different ageing sites. The newest lies on the island of Yakushima. During this tasting, we had the opportunity to sample six distinct bottlings.
Stout Casks are the best friends of Irish Whiskeys, at least that is my theory. In this case, I had the recipe for the cocktail on hand for at least a year. Now that I got the perfect bottle for it, I had to mix it. At the same time this gives me the chance […]
I decided to do things a little differently this year. Since I no longer had any Irish whiskey and I am otherwise a big Ireland fan, I decided to ‘celebrate’ St Patrick’s Day by reviewing a bunch of them. First, I thought I would stick with a ‘classic’ Irish cocktail, the Tipperary.

A wine tasting with the crème de la crème of Franconian winemakers and their friends in a castle, within 30 minutes’ travel of our home? We just had to take part in Franken Freunde at the Schlosshotel Hohenstein. In total, there were 56 vineyards and distilleries offering wine and spirits.
The Rheingau region accounts for just 3 % of Germany’s total vineyard area. However, it has the highest percentage of Riesling, at around 78%. For this tasting, I have selected a Riesling from Peter Jakob Kühn, a pioneer of biodynamic farming.
I discovered the Scaramanga Rhum through my fellow bloggers from Zucker & Zeste. They interviewed Sven Sudeck who now promotes the Rhum. The Scaramanga is intended as an introduction to the relatively unknown category of Rhum Agricole. In this case, the sugarcane juice distillates come from three producers in Guadeloupe. After distillation the Rhum spends […]
