Summer Drink 2026 – Oslo Mule

Aquavit is still a rather underrated ingredient. Of course, you should enjoy caraway, but if you do, you can use it to replace the base spirit in all sorts of classic cocktails. One example is the Oslo Mule, which is a twist on the Moscow Mule.
Surprisingly refreshing
What I found intriguing about this recipe was the addition of cinnamon syrup. Yes, you have to be careful which ginger beer to use here, otherwise the highball might end up being too sweet. However, I guess the cinnamon mellows down the caraway notes of the aquavit a bit. Obviously, cinnamon also goes great with ginger, too.

1,5 cl Homemade Cinnamon Syrup
Built – chilled Highball glass over ice cubes – top off;
Garnish: Mint – Lime Wheel – Ginger Slice;
Song: Bjørn Torske – Clean Air;

The cinnamon indeed masks some of the caraway flavour of the aquavit. Nevertheless, the flavours go very well together. In my opinion, the drink benefits from the addition of half an ounce of lime juice. Overall, the ‘Oslo Mule’ is a refreshing summer drink that showcases aquavit’s potential in modern cocktail creations!
