Negroni Week 2025 – One Red Thread
I just got a hunch that fig might work well paired with the classic Negroni flavours. So, I just had a go at it. I guess it turned out pretty well.

Since I discovered that Negroni Week 2025 has just started and my calendar was wrong. Luckily, I had a basic Negroni recipe in the backlog. Apart from that, it gives me the chance to reminisce a bit about Negroni variations.
I first heard about the Rietsch Sylvaner Vieilles Vignes through Silvanerfest and their profile on Stephan Kraemer. They wrote that this wine was a great influence on him. So, I had to try it, too.
Basically, I built this Negroni variation around the glass from Lobmeyr which just seemed perfect for a straight up serve. I chose the name of a random song which came up when I typed “grapefruit” into Apple Music. Yet, it seem perfect, because by know every iteration of the original just seems like a big […]
I know mid-September might be a bit late for a rosé wine tasting. However, this category has so much more to offer than just a simple summer sipper on a terrace. In fact, the tasting focused on ‘serious’ rosés. Yet, we also had some unusual ones.
Yet, this is not your regular Moselle Riesling. Instead it comes from shooting star Julien Renard. Julien has a lot of small plots ammounting to a total of 1,2 ha. This also means that it is quite hard to get. Luckily, I found a bottle. If you are interested in more about Julien you can […]
Even though summer is on its way out, I decided to create a summery drink with the Rowan’s Creek Bourbon. The recipe sits somewhere between a Mint Julep and a Swizzle. Again untypically for me, I decided to keep things simple.
For the first article in this new series I chose a slightly unconventional wine region for Silvaner. This one comes from the Taubertal, but from the part that belongs to Baden. I will get into that later, but Florian and Philipp Ehrlenbach’s wines won me over completely. Let me tell you the Silvaner is no […]
No, this drink does not contain vodka. In fact, it does not even contain a cocktail bitter. Instead, it shows how far a relatively simple combination can go. In this case, I built the whole drink around gentian liqueur as a base and topped it off with soda water.
Yes, this is another Negroni variation and not necessarily one suited for summer. However, the split base of overproof cognac and overproof calvados was too intriguing to not try it. Obviously, I had to pair those powerful spirits with other strong ingredients.
