I decided to do things a little differently this year. Since I no longer had any Irish whiskey and I am otherwise a big Ireland fan, I decided to ‘celebrate’ St Patrick’s Day by reviewing a bunch of them. First, I thought I would stick with a ‘classic’ Irish cocktail, the Tipperary.
I did enjoy the Chairman’s Reserve bottlings I tried so far. This is why I was especially curious to try the Master’s Selection limited German release, too. Apart from that, I was inspired by a song to come up with a recipe which highlights the character of the rum.

I discovered this cocktail through the Geschichten aus der Geschichte podcast and their episode on Angostura Bitters. The recipe was created by Marshall Davis at the Gallo Pelón Mezcaleria in Raleigh, NC.
Stephan Kraemer introduced his mulled wine right in time for the Christmas season. Since we were there when they harvested the apples for it, I just had to come up with a drink using it.
When I brewed myself a cup of Greek mountain tea, I was wondering if those flavours would also work in a Negroni. Turns out, they do and on top of that rather well.
Now that it is quite cold outside, it is time for drinks with darker flavours and dark spirits. This is why, I came up with an easy cocktail. Apart from a mellow rum blend, I also added some special ingredients.
Since I discovered that Negroni Week 2025 has just started and my calendar was wrong. Luckily, I had a basic Negroni recipe in the backlog. Apart from that, it gives me the chance to reminisce a bit about Negroni variations.
