Dry January – Coffee
Actually, I got inspired by my friend Johann from Cocktailbart. He posted a non-alcoholic cocktail which looked like an Espresso Martini a while ago. Yet, I took the drink in a different direction.

You often read that creating a good non-alcoholic cocktail is harder than creating one with booze. I totally agree, you have to make up for the lack of flavour and mouthfeel. For Dry January 2025, I rely heavily on caffeine.
Last, but not least, I am featuring a non-alcoholic cocktail I came up with last year, but only got around to try now. The drink features some trending ingredients and also sticks to the theme of this year’s Dry January – tea.
A few years back, I would not have believed that there is a big market for non-alcoholic ‘spirits’. Yet, now you can find a great variety out there. However, I asked myself if you could come up with something similar at home. You can find the results and a delicious no-ABV drink below.
I find it liberating to write about non-alcoholic cocktails. Mainly because, I do not need to write tasting notes on a spirit. At the same time, no-ABV drinks are hard. You have to replace the taste and mouthfeel of booze by something else while at the same time keeping the drink balanced.
When Adam of Soundtrackmydrink calls, I am always happy to oblige. Especially, if it is the Christmas edition. In this case, Rewati from seulfood_ chose Mezcal as a base spirit for my entry and the song ‘Stars & Moons’ by Dizzy. The obvious choice was to come up with a Harvest Moon variation.
I heavily anticipated the arrival of the Ferrand Dry Curacao Yuzu. The regular one already is my go-to orange curacao, especially in Mai Tais. Obviously, I had to try the new one in a twist on that classic cocktail!
So, I guess this is two for two now, because I have another gin to review. I really like the gins by Joerg Fiedler. One of his newer creations is the Smoke & Oak gin where he cleverly combined barrel aged gin with smoked Lapsang Souchong tea..
There a lot of gins out there, but still you can find really good ones by coincidence. My good friend Torben from Trinklaune suggested that I try the Wilder Mind gin. Obviously, I had to comply and try the gin Paul Brusdeilins distils after building quite the resume with other gins.
Blanche Armagnac is a wonderful spirit to mix with! This is why I came up with a Missionary’s Downfall variation some time ago. An entry to the Home Bar Awards 2022 Finals added the finishing touches to the recipe.
