Gingeroni – Reisetbauer Blue Gin Organic

While I only recently reviewed the regular Reisetbauer Blue Gin here on the blog, there now is another version on the market. In this case, the Reisetbauer Blue Gin Organic uses the same basic recipe of ist predecessor. Yet, it also comes with a special infusion of Reisetbauer Apple eau de vie. Therefore, I was very intrigued how a Negroni version with it would turn out.

The Reisetbauer Blue Gin Organic uses the same 27 botanicals of the original bottling. Among them are angelica root, coriander seeds, curcuma, liquorice and lemon peel. On top of that, Reisetbauer add a bit of apple eau de vie to the finished gin. In the end, the gin is brought down to drinking strength of 43 % ABV with water from a spring in the Muehlviertl.

Juniper and apples

Even when the organic Reisetbauer gin would have tasted exactly like the conventional bottling, it would have been great. However, the perfectly balanced apple eau de vie infusion adds another layer of complexity. You can taste the apple, but it does not overwhelm the rest of the gin.

Gin and ginger

For a drink with the new Reisetbauer Gin, I went in the Negroni direction. However, I also wanted to use the excellent Reisetbauer Ginger Eau de Vie in the cocktail. Additionally, I replaced the Campari with the Del Professore Bitters and used the Gölles Rosso Vermouth.

Gingeroni:

3 cl Reisetbauer Blue Gin Organic
0,75 cl Reisetbauer Ginger Eau de Vie
3 cl Del Professore Bitter
3 cl Gölles Vermouth Rosso
Stir – strain – chilled small ceramic mug;
Garnish: Orange Twist – Candied Ginger;
Song: Júníus Meyvant – Signals;

Without self praise, I enjoyed the Gingeroni a lot! The combination of fruity, yet familiar juniper notes from the organic gin work very well with the fruitiness of the bitter and the vermouth. At the same time, the earthy notes of the ginger eau de vie perfectly fit the herbal notes in the drink. All in all, this ginger Negroni is the perfect choice for Negroni and ginger fans.
