Agave Month ’25 – La Perla

I know that I am too late for agave month 2025 with this tequila cocktail. Nevertheless, I want to present the La Perla to you. It took ages for me to get around to mix the drink, but I was lacking the pear liqueur for a few years. Now that I have a high-quality one, there was no more excuse.
For their Williams pear liqueur, Lantenhammer use untreated pears. They first produce a Williams pear eau de vie where the mash ferments for three weeks. After double distillation and ageing for three years, the liqueur is produced with only natural ingredients. Lantenhammer bottle the liqueur at an ABV of 25 %.
Mellow pear notes

Unsurprisingly, the Lantenhammer Williams pear liqueur starts with a distinct Williams eau de vie. You can also taste some pear juice. Furthermore, there are some fruit skins, caramel and cloves noticeable.
Strong, dry, fruity
The “La Perla” caught my eye a few years ago when I was looking for quality tequila cocktails. Yet, I lost track of it until at the end of 2024 I saw it somewhere on Instagram. cocktail was created in 2005 at Tres Agaves by Jacques Bezuidenhout. It combines reposado tequila with bone-dry Manzanilla sherry and a touch of pear liqueur.

4,5 cl Manzanilla Sherry
2,25 cl Lantenhammer Pear Liqueur
Garnish: Lemon Twist;
Song: Absinthe Minded – The Pearl;
The “La Perla” starts with a great combination of tequila with nutty sherry flavours. Soon afterwards the pear liqueur becomes noticeable and balances out the drink. It is a great sipper and might even be suitable as an aperitif.
