The Next Level of Homemade Drinks

Tropical Month – Birds of a Feather

When I wanted to name a drink after the song ‘Birds of a Feather’ by Mocky, I discovered that someone beat me to it! My good friend Johann from Cocktailbart already had remixed the cocktail created by Carloin from Boston Tiki Party. Well, after over a year has passed, I finally managed to remix it.

I do not know if Caroline really knows the song by Mocky. After all, the title is a rather popular theme in culture. Yet, I instantly was intrigued by the use of pisco in this cocktail. The Peruvian unaged brandy gets support from white rum. In my case, I used The Real McCoy 3-Year-Old. Yes, I know I should have used a glass with birds on it. Well, I do not own one and went with fish instead…

3 cl Vinas de Oro Mosto Verde Italia Pisco
1,5 cl The Real McCoy 3-Year-Old Rum
1,5 cl World’s End Falernum
3 cl Pineapple Juice
2,25 cl Lime Juice
2,25 cl Pineapple Juice
0,75 cl Meneau Orgeat
Shake – strain – chilled Tropical Glass over crused ice;
Garnish: Mint Sprig;
Song: Mocky – Birds of a Feather;

Apart from only the fish flocking together on my drinking vessel, I also did not have fresh mint on hand. Yet, I added a few drops of mint eau de vie to get a similar aroma. Apart from that, I only can agree with Johann. The ‘Birds of a Feather’ did remind me a bit of a Mai Tai. However, there were more tropical flavours and at the same time the drink was more mellow.
