Yes, it is another new gin and yes summer is almost over. However, this does not mean that you could not sip a summery gin highball. In this case, I came up with a grapefruit forward Negroni style highball.
It took me over a year to get around to mix this drink. However, the good thing is that I know had the perfect Scotch whisky for the recipe. The Glengoyne 12 Years worked perfectly well in this summery Rob Roy variation.
Who says that there are too many White Negroni variations out there? For this special drink I added a bit of extra gentian (& apple) eau de vie and lemon eau de vie. In this context, I am also introducing a new gin to you.
I still have eau de vies from Matthias Sievert to present to you. This time, it is all about sloe berries and a eau de vie distilled from them. For a drink I choose a weird recipe containing calvados and a German Amaro.
I thought long and hard on what to mix with Buckwheat whisky. First, I came up with a Blood & Sand variation. However, I also consulted my Flavor Bible and additionally found a great recipe to base my creation on.
I heavily anticipated the arrival of the Ferrand Dry Curacao Yuzu. The regular one already is my go-to orange curacao, especially in Mai Tais. Obviously, I had to try the new one in a twist on that classic cocktail!
When the folks from Gin de Cologne asked me if I wanted to try their new Mediterranean Gin, I gladly said yes. This version of their classic gin seemed perfect for refreshing summer drinks. Well, as it turns out, it was – although the creation is not for the faint hearted!
When you buy a fan kit from your favourite brewery which includes a beer called ‘Wanderlust’, you definitely have to come up with a hiking inspired beer cocktail! So, this is what I did with the ‘Wanderlust’ American Pale Ale from Orca Brau.
I really enjoy agave spirits, especially tequila. However, when it comes to how often I mix drinks with them, they tend to fall behind. To change that, I came up with a Tequila Manhattan variation with cherry eau de vie as the supporting role.
