Driftwood Seat – Hell or High Water X.O. Rum

Now that it is quite cold outside, it is time for drinks with darker flavours and dark spirits. This is why, I came up with an easy cocktail. Apart from a mellow rum blend, I also added some special ingredients.
Typical rum blend

The Hell or High Water X.O. combines rum from Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica as well as Trinidad. The oldest distillates in the blend spend 15-years in ex-Bourbon casks. Furthermore, the bottling complies with the EU-regulations on rum. It comes with an ABV of 40 %.
Flavours for the colder days
The Hell or High Water X.O. shows notes of molasses, sugarcane as well as some Jamaican rum flavours. Apart from that, you can taste some sweetness, burned sugarcane and grassy flavours. All in all, the rum is balanced with a medium complexity.

2,25 cl Cold Earl Grey Tea
3 cl Lemon Juice
3 cl Sea Buckthorn Syrup
Garnish: Lemon Twist;
Song: Mighty Oaks – Driftwood Seat;
The “Driftwood Seat” starts with a beautiful combination of sea buckthorn and tea with a touch of Jamaica rum flavour. The combination instantly reminded me of holidays at the German coasts. This way, it does work excellent during the colder days of the year. Moreover, through the combination of lemon juice with tea the drink is quite balanced.
