One Bottle One Drink – Norwegian Wood
Before I was preparing the article on the Linie Paloma, I was made aware that it was a long time since I last featured aquavit on the blog. To change that, I mixed up Jeffrey Morgenthaler’s Norwegian Wood.

Yes, this is another Negroni variation and not necessarily one suited for summer. However, the split base of overproof cognac and overproof calvados was too intriguing to not try it. Obviously, I had to pair those powerful spirits with other strong ingredients.
I still have eau de vies from Matthias Sievert to present to you. This time, it is all about sloe berries and a eau de vie distilled from them. For a drink I choose a weird recipe containing calvados and a German Amaro.
On our honeymoon, we visited the Amor Y Amargo Bar and had a wonderful evening. It left a lasting impression on me. Ever since I want more Amaros and more bitters in my homebar. Apart from that, I tried to recreated a drink the barkeeper tailor-made for me. It might not be the same drink, […]
If there is a spirit I am regularly neglecting here on the blog, it is Cachaça. To change that, I gave the Magnifica Extra Premium a try. On top of that, I came up with an Old-Fashioned variation which was really delicious. Although probably no one else can recreate it…

The drink was probably first mixed in the United States with Applejack and Cider. When creating a variation of the Stone Fence cocktail, I wanted to keep it simple, with a certain twist.
It’s been a while since my last calvados review here on the blog. I also did not feature a Manhattan variation for a while now. Although, the Manhattan is my second favourite cocktail, right after the Negroni. On top of that, I also have a very interesting new bitter to introduce to you, the Bittermen’s […]
Well, it is again time to look at a rather underappreciated cocktail ingredient: Calvados! This very traditional French apple brandy is not very popular in bars, but it never fails to give drinks a perfect apple note. This is why I also had the idea to create a cocktail variation of a rather famous drink […]
