Spirited News 07/2021: Whic.de Islay

The German whisky online shop Whic.de already bottles their own whisky. However, this edition is their first standard bottling. Following the current trend, the bottling is a heavily peated Islay Single Malt. So, let us see how the whisky turns out.

The Whic.de Islay Single Malt Batch 1 comes as a no-age-statement whisky. However, it is heavily peated and non-chill-filtered and no colouring is added. In the end, Whic.de bottles their smoky standard bottling at an ABV of 46 %.

Peat smoke and ash

Taste-wise, the Whic.de Islay Single Malt delivers what you expect: A lot of peat and bonfire smoke. Apart from that, you can find some red fruit notes and some charcoal and ash in the taste. Besides all that smoke, the whisky is relatively smooth, but also straightforward with a narrow flavour profile.
