Since I discovered that Negroni Week 2025 has just started and my calendar was wrong. Luckily, I had a basic Negroni recipe in the backlog. Apart from that, it gives me the chance to reminisce a bit about Negroni variations.
Even though summer is on its way out, I decided to create a summery drink with the Rowan’s Creek Bourbon. The recipe sits somewhere between a Mint Julep and a Swizzle. Again untypically for me, I decided to keep things simple.
Yes, this is another Negroni variation and not necessarily one suited for summer. However, the split base of overproof cognac and overproof calvados was too intriguing to not try it. Obviously, I had to pair those powerful spirits with other strong ingredients.
It took a while to find a reason to us up a whole bottle of prosecco for some sparkling wine drinks. This is why, the bergamot eau de vie from the Naturbrennerei Engel is the last citrus eau de vie of this little series I am presenting to you.
This year was our second visit to Mallorca for summer holidays. Since we had such a great time last year, we also visited Stefan Winterling at his Casa Eva distillery again. I was especially curious, because he had just launched a vermouth.
I cannot help myself, but I keep coming up with Negroni variations. I know you could argue, that without the sweet vermouth this is not a Negroni anymore, hence the new name. Nevertheless, as other drinks like Fredrik Yarm’s Caustic Negroni shows, Rhabarbero works excellent with anything bitter / other Amaros.
I based the drink on the modern classic Negroni Bianco / White Negroni. Yet, I went for Reposado tequila as the base spirit. My changes did not stop there, but I also used a rather nerdy liqueur as well as a split wine base of port and Cocchi Americano.
The Eeyore’s Requiem by Toby Maloney really is a cocktail for expert level Negroni drinkers. Since I cannot get enough of bitter cocktails, I had to try it in my Remixed! series.
At the beginning of February, Joerg Meyer wrote about the Mango Negroni on his 7cl Business blog. Since, I was planning a tropical party anyway, I thought I give it a go.
