Jasmine Last Word – Jasmine Tea Gin

When it comes to gin cocktails, the Last Word is one of my favourites. There just is something deeply intriguing about the flavour combination of Chartreuse and Maraschino. Of course, when I made the jasmine tea infused Ki No Bi Gin, I also had to make a Last Word variation. Let us see how this drink turned out.

After all, the Jasmine Negroni was very tasty and you should definitely check out my article on it. Nevertheless, let me just do a quick recap: I cold drip infused high-quality, organic jasmine green tea with Ki No Bi Gin. Afterwards, I simply replaced the gin in a regular Negroni recipe with the Jasmine Gin. So, I did just the same with the Last Word cocktail. I kept the original proportions and also the regular green Chartreuse as well as the Luxardo Marschino. Yet, I am planning on trying the Maraska Maraschino in the near future, since it supposedly makes “smoother” Aviations and Last Words.

Jasmine Last Word:

2,25 cl Jasmin Tea Infused Ki No Bi Gin
2,25 cl Chartreuse Verte
2,25 cl Luxardo Maraschino
2,25 cl Lime Juice
Shake – strain – chilled Cocktail glass;
Garnish: Lime Twist (no drop);
Song: Vandaveer – The Final Word;

The Jasmine Last Word still has all the elements of a classic Last Word cocktail. However, the jasmine flavour gets a bit lost between all the other strong flavours. The Chartreuse and the Maraschino clearly dominate the drink. Furthermore, if you really concentrate on the flavour of the drink, you will find some floral notes in it. In the end, you probably could use a bit more of the Jasmine Gin in the cocktail to enhance its floral tea notes.
