The Next Level of Homemade Drinks
Reinvented might sound a bit exaggerated, but with all these different zombie recipes floating around I think it is ok to add one of your own. After all, Tiki drinks call for a little experimenting. Maybe more than other styles of cocktails.
Sometimes I put a lot of thought into my cocktail creations: Which flavors work well together and how to give them the right balance. And then there are times when it’s easier: I combine new things and suddenly I end up with a drink that works.
If you didn’t notice before: Vanilla is one of my favorite flavors. I’m talking about real vanilla here, not the cloyingly sweet vanilla flavor you know from ice cream or stuff like that.
This is an important ingredient in Tiki drinks. Especially the original Zombie wouldn’t be the same without it. But don’t worry, making it isn’t much harder than making plain simple syrup.
As ginger is an important ingredient for Tiki drinks and I simply love its hotness, I have to share this syrup recipe with you.
A famous bar in Frankfurt uses pineapple wheels soaked in Rum as a garnish for their Mai Tais. So when I needed a suitable decoration for my drinks last Tiki month I decided to make some myself. The turned out to be quite delicious.
